Pristine 1977 GMC Motorhome Hides A Modern, Luxurious Living Space

General Motors manufactures commercial vehicles and specialized vehicles in addition to passenger cars and trucks. In fact, the American automaker’s GMC Truck & Coach Division produced a recreational vehicle called the Motorhome in the 1970s. The 26-foot-long RV has six wheels but only the front wheels are driven. It was produced from 1973 to 1978.

That’s exactly what this gleaming GMC was before it was restored and customized by Creative Mobile Interiors. This motorhome was apparently discovered rusting away near a dumpster with flat tires before its current owners, Bob and Janet Prince, took it and spent money to repair it.

According to CMI, this build first underwent a complete restoration. Before the exterior and interior restoration and modification began, the chassis, engine, and drivetrain were all updated and upgraded.

This GMC Motorhome was stripped down to the bare bones and given a new set of HVAC, 7KW generator, plumbing, electrical systems, and dashboard, as well as the rest of the luxurious appointments seen in the photos. Notable features include an integrated iPad that controls the smart lock/thermostat/detector system, music, TV/satellite, lighting, HVAC, and generator.

But that isn’t all. CMI also designed the restored Motorhome with heated floors, a full washer/dryer, and high-quality materials. There’s even a wine bar and a bathtub.

CMI upgraded the exterior to match the interior by having the front and rear fairings grafted into new Girard awnings. The front end also received a Chevy Silverado fascia, while the back end received a Cadillac rear fascia.

Of course, the extensive work done to the aging RV to transform it into a luxurious living space came at a cost. The conversion cost $500,000, according to The Autopian.
