Ford Europe Teases New VW-Based Electric Crossover

Ford Europe has revealed their new upcoming electric SUV, which will be unveiled on March 21. The modular electric drive matrix, or MEB for short, is Volkswagen’s exclusive electric architecture that will serve as the foundation for this mid-sized electric crossover.

This mid-sized electric SUV will, based on what we currently know, be positioned above the Mach-E and the forthcoming electric Puma. This indicates that it will be the same as the ID4 and utilise the GTX’s sportier engine. As a result, the dual-motor configuration is expected to produce 300bhp and 450Nm.

Ford Europe intends to transition to all-electric vehicles by the end of this decade. Aside from transit commercial vehicles, there are nine upcoming EVs planned, including the Puma EV, the medium-sized electric crossover crossover that was previewed here, and a sport crossover (probably a coupe version of the same). Since 2019, there has been discussion of a partnership with VW Group, which would also see Argo AI for automotive uses jointly developed. Ford Europe will also stop producing a number of ICE models as they move to only producing electric vehicles.

As the design study will be revealed on March 21, a production version of this unidentified Ford e-SUV will most likely go on sale by the end of 2023 or early next year. This will compete with the Korean siblings, the Kia EV6 and Ioniq 5, along with the ID4.
