The launch of the Triumph Scrambler 400X in India has been announced by Triumph. Priced at Rs 2,62,996 (ex-showroom), the motorcycle is Rs 30,000 more expensive than the Speed 400.
In June of this year, the Triumph Scrambler 400X and Speed 400 were also launched. The platforms for both bikes are identical. The Scrambler 400X has a more rough appearance whereas the Speed 400 is a roadster.
The Triumph Scrambler 400X sports a 19-inch front wheel fitted with dual-purpose tyres, a 2-piece seat set at 835 mm as opposed to 790 mm on the Speed 400, increased suspension travel, and broad handlebars with knuckle guards.
In addition, the Triumph Scrambler 400X weighs 9 kg more than the 170 kg Speed 400 and has a slightly longer wheelbase than the roadster. A larger 320 mm brake disc is also added to the front of the bike.
A 398cc liquid-cooled engine that produces 39.5 BHP at 8,000 RPM and 37.5 Nm at 6,500 RPM powers the Triumph Scrambler 400X. The torque-assist clutch connects the engine to a 6-speed gearbox.
The bike has a ride-by-wire system, dual-channel ABS, a USB charging connector, and an analogue instrument dashboard with a small LCD screen.
