The Ather 450 Apex, Ather Energy’s most powerful scooter to date, is launched to commemorate the company’s 10th anniversary. The Apex, the fastest and most potent scooter the firm has ever offered, is the apex of its first scooter platform. This is also the most expensive Ather yet, priced at Rs 1.89 lakh (ex-showroom). Because of limited manufacture, the Apex will only be available for purchase for about eight to nine months. Delivery dates are set for March 2024, and reservations have been available for a few weeks already.
Ather 450 Apex
The 450 Apex is essentially the same as the regular 450X, but Ather decided to give it a unique paint treatment that blends a two-layer “Indium Blue” paint job with contrast orange paint for the wheels, emblems, and frame in an effort to visually set it apart from other 450 models. The near-transparent side panels on the 450 Apex are another amusing feature that pays homage to the translucent panels that were first seen on the Ather 450X Series 1.
Ather 450 Apex Powertrain
Additionally, the 450 Apex boasts a more powerful engine with a peak power output of 7kW, which is 0.6 kW more than the original 450X. However, the torque output stays at 26 Nm. The Apex is the first Ather with a top speed of 100 kmph and an enhanced ‘Warp+’ ride mode. Its 2.9-second 0–40 kmph acceleration time is about half that of the basic scooter. Additionally, Ather says that roll-on acceleration has improved by 30%, making it faster in the 40–80 kmph sprint.
A new, sophisticated regenerative braking system that works with a brand-new energy management algorithm called “Magic Twist” is another essential innovation. According to Ather, the technology is capable of completely stopping the scooter without the need for brake lever inputs. It also guarantees smooth and reliable operation regardless of the battery’s state of charge (SoC). The total approved range has increased somewhat as a result, to 157 km (150 km for the base model).
Apex 450 Features
The suspension and braking system from the 450X, as well as the 3.7 kWh battery pack, are retained. While tyre pressure monitoring is standard on the Apex, anti-lock braking (ABS) is not. Additionally, purchasers will receive a customized helmet painted in the same colors as the scooter.
Since Ather is currently anticipated to make major improvements for the 450 series’ successor, this is probably the last derivative to emerge from the current 450 platform. But first, the business will introduce its second model line in the near future, which is intended to be a more comfortable and accessible family scooter.
