Audi R8 RWD Battles Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT With AWD In Drag Races

The Audi R8 and Porsche Cayenne are diametrically opposed. Specific performance configurations, however, can level the playing field, as demonstrated in a new Carwow YouTube video. The powerful Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT, which also has all-wheel drive, competes against the rear-wheel-drive Audi R8.

The Porsche has significantly more power, but it is also significantly heavier. The 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine in the SUV generates 640 horsepower (447 kilowatts) and 626 pound-feet (850 Newton-meters) of torque. Power is routed to the all-wheel-drive system via an eight-speed automatic transmission with launch control. It also has a weight of 4,894 pounds (2,220 kilograms).

The Audi’s naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 produces 570 hp (425 kW) and 405 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque. The R8 only powers the rear wheels, which are driven by a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The Audi’s main advantage is its low curb weight of 3,505 pounds (1,590 kg).

In the first drag race, the Cayenne rockets off the line, leaving the Audi far behind as it struggles with traction. However, the Audi’s early hiccups vanished as it gained ground on the Porsche. The Audi, however, is too far behind to close the gap before the pair crosses the finish line, with the Porsche claiming its first victory.

The Cayenne rockets off the line in the first drag race, leaving the Audi far behind as it struggles with traction. However, as the Audi gained ground on the Porsche, its early hiccups faded. The Audi, on the other hand, is too far back to close the gap before the pair crosses the finish line, with the Porsche taking its first victory.

The final brake test came dangerously close. While there is a significant weight difference between the two, which you would think would be significant, the Audi wins by mere inches. The performance disparity between supercars and super SUVs has shrunk.
