All three return sub-12-second quarter-mile times.
The Audi R8 is the brand’s supercar, but the automaker also produces a number of other high-performance models. The RS3 and RS Q8 are equipped with powerful powertrains, but the two competing against the R8 V10 Performance Spyder in the latest Carwow YouTube video aren’t stock. This helps to level the playing field as the three drag race each other.
The RS3 is powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine that produces 550 horsepower (410 kilowatts) and 538 pound-feet (730 Newton-meters) of torque after tuning. It has all-wheel drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The RS Q8’s twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 has been upgraded to produce 710 hp (529 kW) and an estimated 663 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque. An eight-speed transmission sends power to all four wheels.
The naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V8 engine under the hood of the R8 V10 Spyder produces 620 hp (462 kW) and 427 lb-ft (580 Nm) of torque. It has all-wheel drive and a seven-speed DCT that connects the engine to the wheels.

While the RS3 and RS Q8 have plenty of power, it isn’t enough to beat the R8 in either drag race. The Spyder is slightly faster, clocking in at 11.1 seconds for the quarter mile. The RS3 took 11.5 seconds, but the larger RS Q8 SUV wasn’t far behind. The race was completed in 11.7 seconds.
The first rolling race, in which the cars are set to their most comfortable settings, yields the same results as the two standing drag races. The R8 is the first to cross, followed by the RS3 and RS Q8. The second rolling race, however, forces the trio into their sportiest settings, and this is where the R8 falters. It lacks the acceleration of the other two, finishing second to the RS3.
The heavier RS Q8 does not win the brake test, but the RS3 and R8 were too close to call. While the tuned RS3 and RS Q8 couldn’t unseat the R8 as the top-tier Audi performance car, they came dangerously close.
