Top 10 Best Selling SUVs Of 2021

Consumer desire for SUVs does not appear to be slowing down anytime soon, and numerous new and improved SUVs will be introduced in 2021. But which books were the year’s best-sellers? Let’s have a look:

1. Hyundai Creta

In 2021, the Hyundai Creta compact SUV was the most popular SUV. Despite its high price tag, which ranges from Rs 10.16 lakh to Rs 17.87 lakh (ex-showroom), the Creta remains a popular vehicle due to its design and amenities. A panoramic sunroof, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated front seats, and connected car technologies are all standard features. Three engines are available for the Creta: 1.5-litre petrol (MT, CVT), 1.5-litre diesel (MT, AT), and 1.4-litre turbo-petrol (MT, AT) (DCT).

2. Maruti Vitara Brezza

Maruti’s subcompact SUV was the year’s second best-selling SUV. The Vitara Brezza has a higher starting price than most of its competitors, but it still offers outstanding value for money, with prices ranging from Rs 7.61 lakh to Rs 11.19 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s a petrol-only vehicle with a touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, auto air conditioning, and rain-sensing wipers. In 2022, Maruti will unveil the new-generation Brezza, which might increase the company’s sales even more.

3. Hyundai Venue

The Hyundai Venue, the company’s second mass-market SUV, was the third best-selling SUV in 2021. With features like connected car technology with remote functions, up to six airbags, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, it’s also a more premium product than most of its competitors. The Venue is priced between Rs 6.99 lakh and Rs 11.85 lakh (ex-showroom) and comes with three engines: a 1.2-litre petrol (MT), a 1.5-litre diesel (MT), and a 1-litre turbo-petroleum (MT) (MT, iMT clutchless manual, DCT).

4. Tata Nexon

The Nexon was the fourth most popular SUV in India in 2021, not far behind its sector competition. It has been able to move up the ranks in its segment due to more regular monthly sales figures. It’s the only car here that comes with an electric version, and it’s also India’s best-selling EV. The ordinary Nexon comes with a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine, both with manual and automatic transmission options. The Nexon comes with linked car technology, a digital instrument cluster, and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The Nexon’s popularity stems from its affordable pricing, which ranges from Rs 7.29 lakh to Rs 13.34 lakh (ex-showroom).

5. Kia Seltos

The Kia Seltos is the sixth best-selling SUV in 2021, just below the popular sub-4m SUVs. In just 11 months, a premium product priced between Rs 9.95 lakh and Rs 18.10 lakh (ex-showroom) managed to sell nearly one lakh units. With a power-adjustable driver’s seat, linked car technology, a 7-inch MID, head-up display, and a 360-degree camera, the Seltos compact SUV is packed with features. It has the same engines as the Creta, but adds the iMT (clutchless manual) for the 1.5-litre petrol and the MT for the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol.

6. Kia Sonet

In 2021, the Sonet’s sales were not as high as those listed before, but they were sufficient to place it sixth on this list. It’s a well-equipped vehicle with a variety of powertrain options, including an automatic transmission for the 1.5-litre diesel engine, just like the Venue. The Kia subcompact SUV is priced between Rs 6.89 lakh and Rs 13.55 lakh (ex-showroom), with ventilated front seats, connected car technology with remote functions, and up to six airbags as standard.

7. Mahindra Bolero

In 2021, Mahindra’s workhorse is the Indian automaker’s best-selling product and the ninth most popular SUV. It is the simplest option on the list, with only the most basic comforts and conveniences. The Bolero costs between Rs 8.71 lakh and Rs 9.70 lakh (ex-showroom). The new Bolero Neo, a more premium offering as a rebranded and facelifted version of the TUV300, is included in its sales figures.

8. Mahindra XUV300

The Mahindra XUV300 was the second most popular SUV in 2021. It is a premium offering with 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines priced from Rs 7.95 lakh to Rs 13.46 lakh (ex-showroom). The XUV300 comes with up to seven airbags, front and rear parking sensors, automatic air conditioning, and cruise control.

9. Mahindra Scorpio

Next year, Mahindra will release the next-generation Scorpio, but the present model remains popular. In 2021, it was the seventh best-selling SUV, outselling some of the newer compact SUVs on a monthly basis. The Scorpio is now available with two 2.2-litre diesel engines, both with a manual transmission. Its look and construction have made it a popular pick, but its feature set lags behind the competition. The third most popular Mahindra model is also the most expensive, ranging between Rs 12.77 lakh and Rs 17.61 lakh (ex-showroom).

10. Nissan Magnite

The Nissan Magnite is the most recent car on this list, having debuted in late 2020. It comes with a digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, LED lighting, and rear AC vents, as well as a unique style. The Magnite is a popular value for money option, with prices ranging from Rs 5.71 lakh to Rs 10.15 lakh (ex-showroom). It comes with a choice of 1-litre normally aspirated and 1-litre turbo-petrol engines, the latter of which is also available with an automatic transmission.
