Team Red gives us a tantalizing glimpse inside the nest.
Honda gave the world a startling glimpse at a notion that wasn’t even on many people’s radar back in November of 2021. The New Hornet Concept, as it was dubbed, appeared to be a computer-rendered reincarnation of an iconic Honda marque from the past.
Hornet’s history isn’t as extensive as, say, the Hawk name, but it’s been there for a while. In reality, it’s been twenty-four years. In two recent films posted on Honda Motocicletas Espaa’s (or Honda Motorcycles Spain’s) official Instagram account, Honda appears to be drawing on this type of thinking.
The first depicts the evolution of Honda Hornet logos over a 24-year period. The Hornet logos from 1998, 2000, 2003, 2007, 2013, and the brand new Hornet logo all flash past swiftly. There’s some background music to go along with it, but it’s mostly just a convenient base for engine noises from various Hornet generations over time.

Honda hasn’t revealed any technical specifics regarding the New Hornet Concept, preferring to keep them under wraps. The sound linked with the all-new Hornet’s short marketing clips, on the other hand, is leading fans to believe it’s a twin. Of course, stated supporters are quick to express themselves on Honda’s Instagram, but whomever manages the company’s social media platforms is keeping things quiet.
“Hornet Concept—The Rebirth of a Legend,” the caption reads. Do you want to be kept up to date on anything that happens with this model? Here is where you may sign up: “Link in bio,” followed by the hashtags that go with it. Surprisingly, India’s Hornet 2.0 isn’t included in this walk down Hornet memory lane, despite the fact that it is clearly distinct from the previous Hornets. One thing’s for sure: The Hornet we’re hearing in these short video clips definitely doesn’t sound like a single.Â

In any event, it appears like the Hornet Concept is well on its way to becoming more than just that. While Honda has yet to announce a production launch date for the new Hornet, we can say that the company, like most others, isn’t one to waste an anniversary year. The Hornet nameplate will celebrate its 24th birthday in 2022, making 2023 the 25th anniversary. Is it possible that the new Honda Hornet will be released in 2023? Many things could be true, but that is unquestionably one of them.
