Hyundai Ioniq 5 Bookings Crosses Over 650 In India

Hyundai India entered the luxury EV market in January 2023 with the introduction of the Ioniq 5. The Kia EV6’s E-GMP platform serves as the foundation for this electric crossover. The Ioniq 5 costs Rs 45.95 lakh less than the EV6, which costs Rs 60.95 lakh ex-showroom. This is because the Ioniq 5 is built in India, whereas Kia imports the EV6 in CBU form.

According to estimates, Hyundai acquired over 650 reservations for the Ioniq 5 in its first month of availability. Hyundai had intended to supply around 300 units each year, but owing to an enormous reaction, the firm now intends to achieve the reservations target. The electric crossover will be available in April 2023, according to Hyundai.

The Ioniq 5 comes in a single fully equipped model with a 72.6kWh battery pack and a rear-mounted motor capable of 216bhp and 350Nm of peak torque. It has an ARAI-certified driving range of 631 kilometres on a single charge and can be charged from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes using a 350kW DC charger.
