Indian truck drivers in North America: How much do they earn?
North American countries such as the United States and Canada are becoming a global hub for immigration, with tens of thousands of Indians settling in these countries each year. The majority of them travel to these countries in search of work and a way to support themselves. Because they are industrialised countries with a strong economy, all legal jobs, including trucking, pay well. But how much money do they actually make? There are a few Indian truck drivers in these nations who are willing to share their experiences driving in other countries. Some of them even share their earnings, which allows us to get a good indication of how much they earn.
USA $200,000 to $225,000

This trucker from the United States works in the state of California. He also does not own the vehicle and uses it as a means of transportation. In the video, he demonstrates the truck’s trailer, which is certainly expensive and luxurious in comparison to regular Indian trucks. It has all of the modern amenities, such as bunk beds, storage, and an air conditioner, among others. They also have stoves in the truck where they can cook food. He makes around 5,000 USD each month, according to the video, depending on his duty hours, which can be more. Manpreet also claims that working in the United States is more easier than in India, particularly because cops do not stop them crossing state lines.
Canada – $66,000
Vijay, a Canadian trucker, is shown here. He is from British Columbia and has worked in the trucking industry for the past six years. Vijay claims that it is a job and that he does not have access to a truck. He works five days a week and has job perks such as the business giving him with half-price medical insurance. In the video, he discusses working in a variety of scenarios, including how tough it can be to drive and operate a truck in temperatures as low as -35 degrees Celsius in the winter.
Vijay’s truck is equipped with a bunk bed, allowing him to relax throughout long drives. His truck has an 18-speed manual transmission, which allows him to get out of tight spots, but it’s a lot of work. He has a CB radio, which he uses to inquire about the road’s status from other truckers. Truckers in Canada are supposed to take a 30-minute break every four hours to avoid weariness. By working 12 hours a day, he earns about 66,000 CAD (about Rs 28 lakh). He makes even more by working long hours.
