Marks Half Century With Four Z50 Models
Kawasaki is commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Z series with special ‘Z50’ editions of the Kawasaki Z900, Z650, Z900RS, and Z650RS. The special edition versions will initially be available in Europe starting in March 2022, and will feature unique colours and liveries inspired by vintage Kawasaki motorcycles. The special edition versions are being released to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Kawasaki’s ‘Z’ models, which began in 1972 with the Z1 Super Four and has since expanded to include the Kawasaki Z1300, Z1000, and Z800. Firecracker Red and Candy Diamond Brown, the trademark colours of the 1970s, will be available on the latest special edition models of the Z650 and Z900, as well as its RS variants.
Design Features
Other special edition features include gold-plated outer tubes and a gloss black frame, as well as gold-plated Z symbol and Kawasaki logo. Red wheels, silver pinstripes, unique seat leather, and a commemorative Z 50th badge on the front fender are all standard on the Z900 and Z650. The Z900 includes all of the previous amenities, such as a TFT dash, traction control, and power modes. The Z650, on the other hand, skips the golden fork tubes in favour of more traditional forks. Gold-finished wheels, a Z50th insignia on the tank, and DOHC badges on the engine covers distinguish the RS models. As a tribute to prior Z models, a little insignia saying ‘Double Overhead Camshaft’ is positioned below the rider’s seat.
The Z900RS is the most expensive of the anniversary models, costing £11,449, yet it’s only £300 more than the mass-produced blue or green 2022 variants.
