Kia Syros Interior Teased: Wireless Phone Charger And ADAS

The Kia Syros is expected to slot between the Sonet and Seltos SUVs in the brand’s Indian portfolio. Inside, highlights are expected to include push-button start/stop, a 2-spoke steering wheel, and a redesigned gear shifter. The SUV is also expected to include ventilated front seats, several airbags, and front parking sensors to improve comfort and safety. It may be equipped with the same petrol and diesel engines as the Sonet, as well as similar transmission options. The Kia Syros is set to launch on December 19, with prices expected to begin at Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Kia Syros, the Korean brand’s next product in our market, has been teased again. the most recent teaser offers a glimpse into the cabin while also confirming some new amenities on board. The Syros, which is said to be positioned between the Sonet and Seltos, is scheduled to make its global debut on December 19.

What Was Seen before?

The new teaser shows a redesigned airplane throttle-like gear shifter, push-button start/stop, a 2-spoke steering wheel with driving and terrain mode settings, and several Type-C USB connections. The short video clip also shows two buttons below the engine start/stop controller for parking sensors and a 360-degree camera, respectively. Based on the teaser, it appears that the Syros cabin will be black and grey.

Features

The video shows that the Syros has ambient lighting, a wireless phone charger, and a large touchscreen (likely to be the same 10.25-inch panel as the Sonet) with tactile controls for frequently used features. Other projected features include a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, automatic air conditioning, a panoramic sunroof, and ventilated front seats.

One of the most significant safety features that the Syros will receive is a suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), as shown by the lane-keep assist button on the steering wheel. Other expected safety features include numerous airbags, ISOFIX child seats, and front parking sensors.

The Kia Syros is expected to feature a range of engine options, including a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine delivering 83 PS and 115 Nm of torque, a 1-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 120 PS and 172 Nm of torque, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine generating 116 PS and 250 Nm of torque. Transmission options are likely to mirror those of the Sonet, including a 5-speed manual for the 1.2-litre petrol, a 6-speed iMT and 7-speed DCT for the 1-litre turbo-petrol, and a choice of 6-speed manual, 6-speed iMT, and 6-speed automatic for the diesel variant. Additionally, the Syros is expected to offer different terrain and drive modes, a feature commonly seen in cars from higher segments, as revealed in the latest video.

The Kia Syros is expected to start around Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom). It won’t have any direct competitors in our market, but will be an alternative to both subcompact and compact SUVs such as the Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Hyundai Creta, and Maruti Grand Vitara.
