Mahindra Sales Up By 87.6% In August 2022

Mahindra reported cumulative domestic sales in August 2022 of 29,615 units, up from 15,786 units during the same period the previous year. This represents an increase in sales of 87.6% YoY, the highest YoY growth of any automaker. Mahindra saw a 6.3% increase in sales in July 2022 when compared to the month before, selling 27,862 units.

Mahindra’s market share increased by 2.9% to 9%, moving it up to the fourth spot in the overall manufacturers’ sales table. The Bolero MUV maintained its top spot in the brand’s domestic lineup, selling 8,246 units as opposed to 3,218 units, a YoY growth of 156%. The Scorpio gets total 7,056 unit sales in last month.

Compared to the same period in 2021, which saw 2,606 units, a significant YoY positive growth of 171% was observed. With updates to the exterior and new interior features, the previous Scorpio is now known as the Scorpio Classic. It has an ex-showroom price between Rs. 11.99 lakh and Rs. 15.49 lakh and is powered by a new 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel engine.

The generation 2 mHawk diesel engine only comes with a six-speed manual transmission and has a maximum power output of 132 hp and 300 Nm of peak torque. It is claimed to be 55 kg lighter than the previous oil-burner and to have a 14% increase in fuel efficiency. Additionally, the Scorpio Classic gets revised steering, increased roll stiffness and improved high-speed handling.

By the end of this month, Mahindra Scorpio N deliveries will start. In just five minutes, the first batch of 25,000 units was sold out, and within 30 minutes, 1 lakh units had been reserved. The SUV has a 2.2-liter diesel engine and a 2.0-liter gasoline engine, and it can accommodate six or seven passengers.

Mahindra Scorpio Price and Variants

It is sold in five variants—Z2, Z4, Z6, Z8, and Z8L—and has an ex-showroom price range of Rs. 11.99 lakh to Rs. 23.90 lakh. It has dimensions of 4,662 mm in length, 1,917 mm in width, and 1,870 mm in height. It is built on a new ladder frame chassis and has larger dimensions than the Scorpio Classic.
