Dhoni Buys A Vintage Station Wagon At BBT Online Auction
Big Boy Toyz, a premium pre-owned vehicle shop, has launched an online auction platform for antique cars, and one of the historic cars, a 1971 Land Rover Series 3 Station Wagon, has found a new home in Ranchi. But this isn’t your typical garage. It belongs to former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and has some of the most stunning cars – both vintage and new – under one roof. While Dhoni purchased the Land Rover, the online auction featured 19 vehicles, including Rolls-Royces, Cadillacs, Buicks, Chevrolets, Land Rovers, Austins, Mercedes, and more.
About The Vintage Beauty
In India, Dhoni’s Land Rover Series 3 Station Wagon is as rare as it gets. A wonderful shade of yellow has been used to finish the model. With almost 440,000 copies made between 1971 and 1985, it was also one of the most popular Land Rover Series models. At the time, engine options included a 2.3-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and a 3.5-litre V8 with a four-speed manual transmission and a two-speed manual transfer case. It’s unclear which engine is installed on the Dhoni-purchased vehicle.
The BBT Online Auction
Jatin Ahuja, Founder and MD of BBT, commented on the purchase and the e-auction, saying, “Vintage Cars and Classic Cars are a multi-billion dollar industry globally. We are the first company to introduce it in an organised and efficient way in India. These auctions are aimed at all the car enthusiasts of the country who love vintage and classic cars. Owning a Vintage Car and Classic car is a unique experience like owning a painting, owning a piece of art. Gradually this business is going to expand in the country and we will do our best to bring the best Vintage and Classic cars for all the car enthusiasts in the country. We want to be a platform where people can always find the vintageand classic cars they desire.”
BBT further stated that the Volkswagen Beetle was auctioned off for as little as Rs. 1 lakh and went up to Rs. 25 lakh. It’s unclear whether the other historic automobiles on the list were purchased by celebrities, but we’d want to hear more from BBT on the subject. In the meantime, the firm says it intends to strengthen its antique and classic automotive segment, with the goal of turning it into a Rs. 100 crore vertical in the coming years. Every two months, the company intends to hold new online auctions of vintage and classic cars. The next auction will be held in February 2022, with a completely fresh inventory.
