Nirav Modi is the famous diamond merchant of India who was accused of a scam of 13,000Cr INR involving the Punjab National Bank! Modi managed to escape but his family was arrested in India. Modi too was arrested in London afterwards. Nirav Modi and his car collection had some of the most expensive pieces that were auctioned last year. We saw expensive cars with equally expensive registration numbers! All the cars were totally worth every penny that the bidders paid for them. The auction was held in Mumbai by the Metal Scrap Trade Corporation Limited (MSTC). 13 cars were auctioned at this event and in this article, we will have a look at the top 5 that fetched the highest bids. Let’s begin!
Nirav Modi Car Collection
1. Bentley Arnage
From 1998 to 2009, the premium manufacturer produced the Arnage. Nirav Modi possessed one, and just for the record, Nirav’s Bentley Arnage received the highest starting offer in the auction. This one has a starting offer of Rs. 2 crore! This sedan was one of the most powerful at the time. This sedan was originally powered by a 6.75-litre V8 engine, which was eventually replaced with a BMW M62 V8 engine. Due to shifting needs, it ended manufacture in 2009.
2. Rolls Royce Ghost
The Ghost is a Rolls Royce model that sits below the Phantom in the company’s portfolio. In terms of what it sold for at auction, this is the second most costly automobile in Nirav Modi’s collection. The lux sedan is powered by a 6.6-litre V12 twin-turbo engine that produces 603 horsepower. This ultimate luxury can race from 0 to 100 miles per hour in just 4.8 seconds! The car’s peak speed, however, is electronically limited to 250 kmph. This one has a one-of-a-kind registration number that is likewise costly to get. The car’s registration number is only three digits long!
3. Porsche Panamera
The Porsche Panamera was another vehicle in Nirav’s collection. This was Porsche’s first try at sedans, and we believe they succeeded. Nirav was driving a white Porsche Panamera with the number “MH 01 AT 0005” on the licence plate. Nirav, we’re guessing, loved his autos to have a distinctive number. When it comes to sedans, a new one costs roughly Rs.2.15 crore. The one shown above was sold for Rs. 54 lakhs, which was the highest price made by one of the auctioneers.
4. Mercedes Benz GL-350 CDI
Nirav has a Porsche Panamera in his collection as well. Porsche’s first attempt at sedans was a success, in our opinion. Nirav was driving a white Porsche Panamera with the licence plate “MH 01 AT 0005”. We’re thinking Nirav liked his cars to have a unique number. In the case of sedans, a new one costs around Rs.2.15 crore. The one seen above was auctioned for Rs. 54 lakhs, which was the highest bid by one of the auctioneers.
5. Mercedes Benz CLS 350
A Mercedes CLS 350 was included in Nirav Modi’s automobile collection. The red beauty also has a unique registration number, as you can see in the photo above. It’s the single figure 8 that can be found on several of Nirav’s other vehicles. A 3.5-liter V6 engine and a 7G Tronic automatic transmission are standard on the newest model. Modi’s collection included this one, which sold for INR 16 lakhs.
Other cars that were included in Nirav Modi’s car collection were 2 Toyota Fortuners, a Honda CRV, a Toyota Innova Crysta and even a Honda Brio! The department was looking to auction his paintings as well and as per the latest update, the auction will have some of the masterpieces from the most important artists in the world!Â
