OLA Electric Car Teased Officially – New Premium Sedan

Ola’s first electric car will be made at the company’s upcoming mother plant in Tamil Nadu

The EV startup released a teaser video of its planned luxury electric car on the sidelines of the ‘Ola Customer Day’ event held at the site of the company’s upcoming plant near Krishnagiri, TN. As the teaser suggests, the first Ola electric vehicle will be a low-slung fast sedan with a coupe roof-line and a futuristic appearance.

It’s no secret that Ola Electric has been eyeing the Indian electric four-wheeler market, which is expected to have enormous potential, since the debut of its S1 electric scooter. Even while the firm is dealing with a slew of concerns about the quality, dependability, and timeliness of its S1 scooter, it looks that development of the impending electric automobile is moving along apace.

OLA Electric Car Teased

The teaser shows a three-dimensional representation of a stylish and edgy automobile. Because the Ola sedan is an electric vehicle, it has a lot of aerodynamic freedom in its outward style that would be difficult in a traditional IC engine car, such as an unusually low slung nose.

A wedge-shaped front fascia, an LED lighting signature that runs the length of the car, a swooping roofline, and a Kia-like rear fascia are all notable aesthetic aspects. No other information has been released at this time, although Ola Electric’s CEO Bhavish Aggarwal has announced that more information would be released on August 15. According to sources, Ola has hired Ramkripa Ananthan, an ex-Mahindra designer who created the current XUV700, Thar, and XUV300.

Ola Electric’s entry into the passenger vehicle market with a high-end model suggests the firm is following a top-down strategy. The product’s debut date has yet to be confirmed, but considering that it is still in the early phases of development, we don’t anticipate it to be available for more than a year or two. Of comparison to a standard OEM, the product development process in a startup is frequently rushed. For example, basing the product on an existing electric skateboard from one of the many multinational mobility companies would significantly reduce the lead time. The powertrain configuration is anyone’s guess as of now, and we think it is going to be one motor at each wheel, supported by a lithium-ion battery pack with a capacity of around 70-80 kWh.

What to expect?

Aided by an impressively low aerodynamic co-efficient and frontal area, such a battery pack could be good enough for a certified range of over 500 km. A 0-100 kph time of less than 7 seconds and a top-speed in excess of 150 kmph would be a nice place to start in terms of performance.

The Ola electric car will compete at the top of the Indian electric vehicle market. The vehicle’s pricing is expected to be around INR 30 lakh, but it will come with a long list of standard features, including ADAS. It might be the first electric vehicle of its sort when it debuts. Electric car demand is increasing. Tata, Kia, Mahindra, and Hyundai have all committed to launching more new electric vehicles in India. Premium companies such as Audi, Mercedes, BMW, Jaguar, and others have joined the electric vehicle revolution. With Tesla possibly delaying its introduction in India, things may be looking up for Ola Electric Sedan.
