Indian National Congress, the largest political party in opposition in Parliament, is running a novel program called “Bharat Jodo Yatra.” In this program, Indian National Congress state representatives will accompany Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on a 3570-kilometer campaign from Kanyakumari to Srinagar.
While Rahul Gandhi will travel the entire distance on foot, occasionally accompanied by state representatives and “Atithi Yatris,” the party has made arrangements for the participants to spend the night at temporary campsites wherever they may stop. The party has set up 60 large containers mounted on trucks for these stays, and they will be placed wherever the programme will stop.
What Is Truck Homes
These 60 specially made containers provide basic arrangements for night shelters and can house 230–250 “Padyatris.” Beds and mattresses are provided in every one of these containers. Some containers only have one bed, while others have up to 12 beds. Additionally, there are containers with two and four beds. Each day, the rally moves these containers to a new location or city.
These containers include beds in addition to fans and power outlets for charging electronics. But inside these containers, there are no other entertainment options like television or screens. These vehicles also lack kitchens and refrigerators, unlike motorhomes. In containers with multiple beds, the sleeping accommodations are arranged in a double-story fashion, similar to a sleeper compartment on a train. Additionally, the containers only have fans and ventilation windows instead of air conditioners.

Some of these containers have attached restrooms and toilets. There is a separate toilet container, though, for those containers that don’t have them. (towncville.com) All of the “Bharat Jodo Yatra” participants can eat their meals in one of these containers, which also serves as a dining hall. Since the rally will travel from south to north through numerous states speaking various languages, all of these containers are painted with slogans in various languages.
Indian National Congress’ “Bharat Jodo Yatra” is an effort to establish grassroots ties with people in various states. Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, and other party members will walk the 3570 km rally through 12 states and two union territories. The protest, which began on September 8 in Kanyakumari, will last 150 days. The rally makes its final stop in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.
Similar to any other political campaign, there has been a lot of misinformation spread about this rally. Online images of expensive motorhomes were posted to demonstrate how opulent the trucks’ cabins truly are. To verify these claims and present the accurate picture of the rally and the container trucks, India Today conducted a ground report.
