The Tata Nexon compact SUV was unveiled by Tata Motors in late 2017 and underwent a significant facelift in early 2020. Over the past year or so, the five-seater has been a huge success for the domestic auto major, consistently posting record monthly sales. It has recently surpassed SUVs like the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, and Hyundai Creta in terms of sales in the nation.
Tata recorded a total of 15,085 Nexon units in the month of August 2022, making up nearly one-third of the brand’s volumes. Last month, the company’s total domestic sales reached 47,166 units, which resulted in a 68% increase in sales year over year. Nexon and punch combined volume stood at 27,000 units in August 2022.

A little over 12,000 units of the Punch five-seater micro SUV were sold in August 2022, which was also the month with the highest monthly total. Tata sold a total of 3,845 EVs in comparison to the same period last year, a 276 percent YoY increase in sales. The business is still India’s third-largest car manufacturer by sales, behind Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai.
A few days ago, Tata unveiled the Nexon, Nexon EV, Safari, and Harrier Jet Editions. Earlier this year, the Nexon EV Max was introduced with a bigger battery and a longer range. The 1.2-liter Revotron turbocharged petrol engine that powers the ICE Nexon produces a peak output of 120 PS and 170 Nm torque.
The maximum power output and peak torque of the 1.5 litre, four-cylinder Revotorq turbo diesel engine are 110 PS and 260 Nm, respectively. A six-speed manual transmission is used to connect both powertrains as standard, with a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission available as an option.
The Tata Nexon is currently available for between Rs. lakh and Rs. lakh (ex-showroom). Its rivals include the Honda WR-V, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Mahindra XUV300, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, and others. It has iRA connected technology, cruise control, a touchscreen infotainment system, and an engine start/stop button, among other features.
