The new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé is a vehicle that has undergone significant course correction. It now has a sharper attitude and has been re-engineered to be more dynamic, making it appear to have more BMW DNA.
BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe Exterior
This is readily apparent, even at first glance. The nose design has become more compact and athletic. The shark-like flat snout with the ‘overbite’ gives it a rakish appearance, and when combined with the peeled-back headlamps and convergent bonnet lines, you have a car with plenty of individual individuality.

Around the sides, the new car has larger wheel arches that have been filled out to accommodate wider and taller wheels. The roof and back windshield blend perfectly into the boot, giving this automobile a tidy look. The addition of new slanted tail-light clusters offers a fresh look to the back. The boot now has a capacity of 430 litres, however that excludes the spare tyre. Indian cars will receive a space-saving tyre, which will significantly save space.
New BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe Interior
Step inside, and you’ll be met by a refreshed cabin that borrows from BMW’s most recent styling guide. The cabin’s design is now consistent with that of other BMW sedans, and one of the standout features is the new curved display with BMW’s latest software. It also has ingenious minor features like wide, bold ambient lighting bars and highlights that respond to temperature variations on the screen – blue for cooler temperatures and red for a warmer cabin.

While the rear room has been slightly enhanced and does not seem as cramped as the previous model, this is still a car that is best enjoyed from the front seats.
New BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe Powertrain
The Gran Coupé’s engine is likely to be reduced. The three-cylinder 1.5 turbo-petrol with mild-hybrid technology produces 170hp and 280Nm. This is a slight decrease from the previous model. Still, the addition of 20hp from the E-motor (included in the 170hp) is likely to make it feel more responsive, as it also allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100kph in a claimed 7.9 seconds. Enough power, but nothing more.
While BMW is expected to stick with the 2.0 diesel engine with four cylinders, power is expected to be 163hp (down from 190hp) and torque a solid 400Nm.
New BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe Price
BMW’s new 2 Series Gran Coupé, which is anticipated to hit showrooms in the middle of the year and would cost between Rs 45 lakh and Rs 47 lakh, is a car for self-drivers looking for a lively, dynamic drive. However, some people will probably demand greater power and performance.
