Volvo will unveil the Volvo C40 Recharge for India in June 2023, which is the SUV-coupe variant of the XC40 Recharge. It’s the Swedish automaker’s second fully electric vehicle in India, built on the same Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) as the XC40 Recharge.

The Volvo C40 Recharge’s pricing will be published on September 4, and Volvo will open its order books on September 5. The deliveries are scheduled to commence the following month. Let’s take a quick look at what’s on offer.

Volvo C40 Recharge Exterior

The C40 Recharge is nearly identical to its twin, the XC40 Recharge, notably at the front. The closed grille, Thor’s hammer-styled DRLs, bumper design, and 19-inch alloy wheels are all inspired by the mechanical brother, the XC40 Recharge.

However, when it comes to the design, the C40 Recharge has a sloping roofline, giving it a coupe flair and a sleeker appearance than the XC40 Recharge.

Volvo C40 Recharge Features

The Volvo C40 Recharge has many features with the XC40 Recharge, including the list of available equipment. It has a vertically oriented 9-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, electrically adjustable front seats (with heating and cooled functions), dual-zone temperature control, a panoramic sunroof, and a premium Harman Kardon sound system.

In terms of safety, the C40 Recharge comes standard with a package of advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS), which includes adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, collision avoidance and mitigation, lane keeping assist, post-impact braking, driver alert, and run-off mitigation. It also has seven airbags, hill assist, and a 360-degree camera.

Volvo C40 Recharge Performance

Yes, the Volvo C40 Recharge has the same 78kWh battery pack as the XC40 Recharge, but they are not the same. Volvo enhanced the energy efficiency of the battery pack owing to a new cell supplier, and because the C40 Recharge is sleeker and more aerodynamic, it has a longer range of 530 kilometers, which is 112 kilometers longer than the XC40 Recharge.

It has 408PS and 660Nm of torque and can sprint from 0-100kmph in 4.7 seconds thanks to its twin motor arrangement. The C40 Recharge supports up to 150kW DC rapid charging, allowing the battery to be recharged from 10% to 80% in 27 minutes.

Volvo C40 Recharge Pirce and Rivals

Volvo may price the C40 Recharge about Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom), making it more expensive than the XC40 Recharge. It will compete with the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, and BMW i4.
