Yamaha WR155R Overview
Yamaha India plans to launch the WR 155R in our two-wheeler market next year. The WR 155R is a proper dual-purpose motorcycle on the lines of the Hero XPulse 200. It’s powered by the same engine as seen on the Yamaha R15 Version 3.0. However, the motor has been detuned for better off-road performance.
If Yamaha can localize the components and price the off-road motorcycle at Rs 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom), the WR 155R could bridge the gap between the Hero XPulse 200 and the Royal Enfield Himalayan BS6. It’s also quite light at just 134kg (kerb weight), but the challenges for the WR 155R in India will be its tall seat height of 888mm and small 8.1-litre fuel tank which will restrict its range.
