Honda To Launch A Made-In-India SUV Next Year

Honda Cars India intends to extend its lineup in India, and a new SUV is now in the works. SUVs have become increasingly popular in recent years, and this trend is projected to continue this year. As a result, it makes sense for Toyota to extend its presence in this market as soon as possible.

Honda now offers only four models: the Amaze, Jazz, WR-V, and City. The fourth-generation Honda City and the fifth-generation Honda City are the two models offered. The newest version’s hybrid version (City e: HEV) was just introduced in India, and it will be available in our market early next month.

While the Honda WR-V competes in the heavily fought compact SUV sector, its sales have suffered as a result of its lack of major changes over the years. In March 2022, a total of 251 units of the small Honda crossover were sold in India, representing a significant 74% decrease in sales year over year. In the midsize SUV segment, the company has no competitors.

“The SUV segment is booming, and we should have (ideally) had certain goods,” Takuya Tsumura, the new CEO and President of Honda Cars India, was cited as saying. However, we can fight back in the market, and if consumers migrate to SUVs, we can attract them to Honda.”

“We can’t go too far back in time.” I believe we have a promising future ahead of us. (anewcareer.org) He went on to say, “We have to believe in it.” Honda’s future India-specific SUV is still a mystery, but it’s likely to compete with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun, and others. This new SUV will be designed in India and built specifically for the Indian market.

UV (SUV and MPV) sales in India exceeded compact car sales (sedans and hatchbacks) in FY21-22, indicating extraordinarily strong overall growth. As a result, car brands with UV-focused portfolios, such as Tata, Kia, and Mahindra & Mahindra, have found a lot of success. Other automakers, such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, and Honda, saw their market share decline over the prior fiscal year.
