The Indian automobile sector recorded a total domestic tally of 3,24,650 units in July 2022, up from 2,81,576 units in the same period in 2021, representing a 15.3 percent YoY volume rise. Maruti Suzuki maintained its lead over Hyundai and Tata, selling 1,29,802 units to 1,23,675 units.

Good Year For Homegrown Brands

The homegrown brand sold 47,506 pieces versus 30,184 units, a 57% increase year on year – the brand’s greatest monthly tally ever. Mahindra recorded 24,238 units last month compared to 17,595 units during the same period the previous year, representing a 38% YoY volume rise, while Kia ended fifth.

Korean Manufacturer Sales At Peak

The South Korean automaker sold 22,022 vehicles in July 2021, a 47 percent increase over the previous year. Toyota, like Tata, had its greatest monthly sales last month, with 19,693 units sold versus 13,103 units during the same period in 2021, representing a 50% YoY increase in sales.

Renault India finished eighth with 7,128 units versus 9,787 units in July 2021, representing a 27% decrease in volume year on year. Honda posted 6,784 units versus 6,055 units in the same time in 2021, representing a YoY volume growth of 12%, while Skoda finished ninth with 4,447 units thanks to Kushaq and Slavia.

MG sold a total of 4,013 units and plans to offer the upgraded Hector in India next. Nissan India came in eleventh place, ahead of Volkswagen, FCA, Citroen, and Force. Citroen’s C3 compact hatchback was debuted last month with an appealing starting price, and the brand’s volumes are expected to rise further in the coming months.
