Ather Energy Records 389% Year On Year Growth At 9,187 Units In December

Ather Energy, a Bengaluru-based electric vehicle startup, increased its sales by 389% year on year in December, selling 9,187 units. Last month, the company also announced a slew of benefits for its customers, dubbed an Ather Electric December. The company had launched a month-long programme that provided customers with benefits, financing options, and exchange schemes.

The company also expanded its retail presence by opening 14 ECs in cities such as Nellore, Karimnagar, Udupi, Noida, Kottayam, and Shimoga.

In a separate development, Ather Energy intends to more than triple its sales in 2023. A key component of its business expansion strategy will be to more than double production volume. The automaker intends to increase its monthly production rate from 8,000-9,000 units to 20,000 units by March 2023. In October of this year, Ather opened its second manufacturing facility in Hosur. This new plant would be critical to the production increase strategy.

Apart from that, Ather Energy also aims to grow its distribution networks across India on the back of easing supply chain pressures. The electric two-wheeler brand plans to open showrooms on the outskirts of cities and gradually move to more affluent urban neighbourhoods to reach more consumers. This comes as a reversal of its initial policy.

Milind Soman, a fitness icon and supermodel, recently announced that he will ride an Ather 450X electric scooter from Bengaluru to Mangalore as part of the second edition of the multi-city solo cycle & electric bike ride powered by Ather from Mumbai to Mangalore. The Green Ride is an initiative to raise public awareness and encourage people to make the right choices in order to keep the environment healthy with pollution-free clean air. Its mission is to advocate for a sustainable environment, clean air, and green energy.
