BMW India is preparing to reveal the i4 electric sedan on April 28, 2022, ahead of its market launch, after the launch of the iX SUV and Cooper SE electric cars. The i4 made its world debut in the middle of last year, and it will be the first major launch in the electric luxury category considering its sedan/coupe body design.
The four-door BMW i4 has the same overall length, breadth, and height as the combustion-engined 3 Series, but it rides on a modified CLAR chassis that has been tweaked to accommodate an electric drivetrain. The exterior shares a lot of similarities with the 4 Series, but it also features several eco-friendly design elements.
BMW i4 Exterior
The upcoming BMW i4 has a closed-off front grille section, slender LED headlights, wraparound LED taillights that extend into the slightly sculpted boot, blue accents, chromed window line, coupe-ish roofline, heavily raked rear glass area, newly designed wheels, a pair of the large kidney grille, forward dipping bonnet, and more on the outside.
BMW i4 Interior
The electric sedan’s interior features a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with numerous in-car connectivity options and iDrive OS8, as well as ventilated seats, a 14.9-inch curved digital display, triple-zone automated climate control, and other features. In international regions, the BMW i4 is available in an eDrive40 variant with 340 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque. (gilberteyecare.com)
BMW i4 Powertrain
The electric motor drives the rear wheels and claims a 0-100 kmph time of 5.7 seconds, while the M50 xDrive features a more powerful twin electric motor arrangement that drives all four wheels. Both types have an 83.9 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack installed on the floor, and the system produces 544 horsepower and 795 Nm.
BMW i4 Rivals and Range
In the global market, the BMW i4 competes with the Audi e-tron GT and Porsche Taycan. Sport Boost mode on the AWD variant unleashes the full potential for 10 seconds, allowing it to accelerate from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in just 3.9 seconds. In the WLTP cycle, the RWD model is rated to have a driving range of 590 km, while the AWD is rated to have a driving range of 510 km on a single charge.
