A facelift for the e6 MPV, which our sources indicate will be released here around Diwali this year, has been hinted at by BYD India. The e6, which was BYD’s debut model in India, was first offered exclusively as a commercial vehicle. However, in September 2022, it was also made accessible to private purchasers.
The e6 facelift was introduced and debuted by the firm at the July GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). It is known as the M6 in Indonesia, and BYD is reportedly planning to adopt the same branding for the revised MPV in India. The e6 will gain more features inside in addition to outward aesthetic upgrades.
BYD e6 facelift: Exterior and Interior updates
The soft plastic portions are the only areas receiving cosmetic modifications, as is typical with facelifts. The e6 has new full-LED headlamps up front together with an updated LED daytime running lamp signature. A new satin trim with BYD lettering connects the two pieces. It also receives a redesigned front bumper with new chrome accents and more sculpted air vents along the edges.
The updated E6 facelift has bigger wraparound taillights with LED accents on the back than the previous model. Similar to the front bumper, the rear bumper has also undergone minor adjustments, including new chrome inserts. The e6 is anticipated to receive new alloy wheels, but other than that, not much has changed in terms of profile.
The largest interior upgrade is a larger 12.8-inch floating touchscreen, which replaces the current car’s 10.1-inch screen. Other than that, not much has changed with the dashboard. A new drive selector lever, some new switchgear, and two wireless charging pads have been added to the somewhat modified center console. It also receives a new steering wheel, although the instrument cluster’s analog dials are still there.
BYD e6 facelift: powertrain, specs
The updated E6 facelift has bigger wraparound taillights with LED accents on the back than the previous model. Similar to the front bumper, the rear bumper has also undergone minor adjustments, including new chrome inserts. The e6’s silhouette hasn’t changed all that much, however new alloy wheels are anticipated. The e6 is available with two different battery pack configurations in Indonesia: a 55.4kWh unit with a stated range of 420 km and a 71.8kWh one with a range of 530 km. With the smaller battery, it generates 163 horsepower, and with the larger battery, 204 horsepower. Both versions have a torque rating of 310 Nm. Compared to the current car’s 95 horsepower and 180 Nm of production, that is a very substantial increase.
The new BYD e6 is anticipated to retail for a fair premium over the existing model, which is priced at Rs 29.15 lakh (ex-showroom). Since it is an electric MPV, the market has no direct competitors.
