Cars Discontinued in 2021 | Top 10 Cars Out From Production

In 2020, a lot of car manufacturers discontinued their car models due to the transition from BS4 to BS6. This year, the slow market conditions due to Covid-19 pandemic and other new updates models have forced few models of of the market. We’ve made a list of 10 some of the most famous cars that said goodbye to India in 2021.

1. Figo

Ford is the fifth major automaker to cease vehicle manufacturing in India since 2017. Since company itself left India, all it’s models were discontinued. Figo was available in both engine options, while, its automatic transmission variant was liked by many automotive enthusiasts.

2. Toyota Yaris

The yaris was a moderate performer and was not sold much in Indian market, it was discontinued in September 2021. Also, the new yaris will not be launched in India again. On the other, the company is said to launch a rebadged version of the Ciaz, just like the Baleno as Glanza.

3. Ford Aspire

Aspire is the sedan version of Figo and competed with Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura and other sub 4 metre sedans. It was available in both petrol and diesel engine and was very popular in it’s segment.

4. Ford Ecosport

The Ford EcoScport was the first sub 4 metre compact suv of India and was discontinued in India in 2021. EcoSport was Ford’s best selling vehicle in India. Also, the company was working on it’s facelift version and was preparing it to launch in India. However, the company ceased it’s manufacturing in India in year 2021.

5. Ford Endeavour

The Endeavour was the only SUV in India which competed the Toyota Fortuner in their respective segment. Although it was liked by many people, its sales were less.

6. Mahindra XUV500

XUV 500 is still available in Mahindra showrooms. However, its production is discontinued by the company after the launch of all new XUV 700. It is expected to gain the badge of XUV 500 which would compete with cars like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos.

7. Honda Civic

The Japanese automaker Honda launched its 10th gen Civic in year 2019, however, this d segment sedan failed in India as its prices were same as a SUV. Further, the company discontinued and stopped its manufacturing in greater noida plant during the Covid-19 pandemic.

8. Honda CR-V

CR-V was not doing well right from the start of its launch in year 2013. As there were enough competetors in the segment like endeavour and fortuner, the CR-V couldn’t secure a stable position in the market and was discontinued in last year.

9. Hyundai Grand i10

The japanese automaker and manufacturer silently removed the Grand i10 at the start of this year. However, its manufacturing stopped and was replaced by Grand i10 Nios in January 2021. The company had made many changes in order to make it look more sportier than its older version.

10. Mahindra Alturas G4

The Mahindra Alturas G4 is not yet discontinued, however, it is expected to leave India soon as the company has only left with 500 CKD kits. As soon as these 500 units are sold, the company is expected to discontinue the car and replace it with another car.
