Hyundai, a Korean automaker, has announced plans to launch six new battery electric vehicles in the Indian market by 2028. In addition, the company will launch its dedicated BEV platform, E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform), in the Indian market. Similarly, Kia is preparing to enter the Indian market with an electric vehicle.
While Hyundai will introduce the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia will unveil the EV6 GT for the Indian market. Both models have been spotted testing on Indian roads several times. These electric crossovers will be available as a CBU and will most likely cost more than 40 lakh rupees.
HYUNDAI IONIQ 5
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is available with two different powertrains. Lower variants have a single motor with a claimed power of 169bhp and torque of 350Nm. KIA EV6 GT
Kia India is preparing the all-electric EV6, which is set to go on sale in mid-2022. The new EV6 will be available in India as a full import. It is also built on the same e-GMP platform as the Hyundai Ioniq 5. The electric crossover includes all of the features found in the Hyundai Ioniq 5.
The electric crossover is available in a variety of configurations on global markets. It comes with a 58kWh battery pack and is available in two configurations: RWD with a single 170bhp motor and AWD with a dual-motor setup that produces 235bhp. The top-spec model comes with a larger 77.4kWh battery pack and a 229bhp single-motor in RWD and a 325bhp dual-motor in AWD. The GT variant has a dual-motor AWD setup that produces 585bhp and 740Nm of torque.
