Famous Riders Of Isle of Man TT

With difficult roads and harsh weather, the Isle of Man TT is one of the most dangerous motosport events ever. Despite the challenges, some racers have shone brightly and made history.

In the year 1907, the Isle of Man TT was held for the first time. A single circuit of the full route, which is spread throughout the Isle of Man Island, is 60.7 kilometres long.

1. John McGuiness

Starting his Isle of Man TT career in the year 1996, McGuiness has won a total of 23 TTs in his entire career, the maximum wins for any individual TT racer till date. His first TT win was in the lightweight 250cc category in 1996. John McGuiness was ruling the TT from the year 2006 to 2013, winning a total of 20 races in different categories. It was 2014 when McGuiness met with a motocross accident just a few weeks before the TT and he ended up not winning a single TT in this year and a few years to follow. John McGuiness had his last win in the year 2019 when he won the Classic TT.

2. Michael Dunlop

Michael Dunlop is the son of Isle of Man TT racing legend Robert Dunlop and the nephew of world winner Joey Dunlop. Michael’s first TT appearance was in 2007, when he finished 25th in the superbike TT. His maiden TT victory came in Supersport Junior TT Race 2 in 2009. Michael Dunlop has won 19 TTs thus far, competing in various divisions. His most recent victory came in the 2019 Lightweight TT.

3. Guy Martin

Guy Martin is a well-known figure in the Isle of Man TT realm. Martin, a former truck mechanic, raced in the Isle of Man TT for the first time in 2009, finishing in the top three in three of the events he competed in. Despite the fact that he has never won a TT race, Martin has finished on the podium in 17 of them. In 2017, he announced his retirement from the Isle of Man TT, where he only finished one of the five events he entered.

4. Ian Hutchinson

Ian Hutchinson, an English racer, competed in his first Isle of Man TT event in 2004. In 2007, he won the Supersport Junior TT category at the Isle of Man TT for the first time. Hutchinson has won 16 TT races in his career, the most recent of which was in the Superstock TT category in 2017.
