Kia EV6 Facelift Revealed with Larger 84 kWh Battery Pack

Kia’s first dedicated EV has been ready from the 2nd half of 2021. Over this time frame, sales of the Hyundai Ioniq 5’s sibling model had exceeded 210,000 units. It is receiving a mid-cycle update in order to stay current and competitive in a segment that is becoming more difficult. It has sleeker headlamps to match the EV9, yet it still appears to have travelled back in time.

Kia is showcasing the EV6 GT-Line, which has a front light bar, in addition to the base model. The redesigned bumpers for the two trim levels have different designs, but nothing very noteworthy. The profile is still the same because this is only a facelift, but there are new alloy wheel designs available in 19 and 20 inches.

The new EV6 features a new dual screen frame and a different three-spoke steering wheel, despite the inside looking instantly familiar. Kia is adding a smart rearview mirror, a 12-inch head-up display, and a fingerprint authentication system. We’re pleased to inform that the glossy piano black trim that was a part of the centre console appears to have disappeared with the redesign.

There are also adjustments that are invisible to the bare eye. For increased body rigidity, the EV6 will gain bigger B-pillars and second-row side airbags. Additionally, the ride comfort has been enhanced by adjusting the shock absorbers, and the electric motors are now quieter. Additionally, there is additional sound-absorbing material surrounding the rear motor. Beyond the navigation system, over-the-air updates are now available, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard.

Kia has replaced its outdated 77.4-kWh battery with a larger 84-kWh pack that requires 18 minutes at 350 kW to charge from 10% to 80%. According to local testing rules, the rear-wheel-drive EV6 Long Range can now travel 307 miles instead of 295 miles. According to the EPA, a similar pre-facelift model in the US can travel 310 miles before running out of fuel.

Next month, the revised EV6 will go on sale domestically. Other markets will follow. That top-of-the-line GT is probably not long behind.
