The Mahindra Thar 4X2 will be available, the AX (OPT) and LX.
Mahindra, the nation’s largest utility vehicle producer, appears to be pumped and prepared to introduce the more affordable versions of its wildly popular lifestyle off-roader Thar. The business just recently posted the updated Mahindra Thar 4X2 brochures, which include the details of its RWD models, on its main website. The updated brochures outline the powertrain specifications and feature list for the upcoming RWD Thar variants.
Mahindra Thar 4X2 Varaiants
According to recently released brochures, two variants of the Mahindra Thar 4X2 will be available, the AX (OPT) and LX. The AX(OPT) will be the base model and will be lacking some of the essential features found in the Thar. On the other hand, the LX variant will have some additional tech features inside, including automatic HVAC controls, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, 4 speakers, 2 tweeters, and electric ORVM adjustments. Everest White and Blazing Bronze are the two additional exterior colour options available for the Thar 42 variants.
Mahindra Thar 4X2 Specs
The Mahindra Thar 4X2 will have two engine choices for its powertrain, including a petrol and a diesel engine. The first option will be a 2.0-liter mStallion TGDi petrol engine with turbocharging, generating about 150 PS of power and 320 Nm of torque. This gasoline engine will only be available with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, the 1.5-liter diesel engine will be shared with the XUV300 as the second engine option. The D117 CRDe diesel engine can produce up to 117 PS of power, but it can also produce a respectable 300 Nm of torque. This will only be available with a six-speed manual transmission, unlike the petrol engine.

Recently, a YouTube user named Yash9w posted a video to his channel where he was seen operating the rear-wheel drive Mahindra Thar in Chandigarh in production-spec. We also noticed from the video that the 42 model poses the same as the previous 44 models. From the outside, they are identical, and inside, they do not appear to differ significantly from the four-wheel drive version. The RWD version keeps the interior’s overall blacked-out theme. However, a small storage area has taken the place of the additional four-wheel drive system lever that was located close to the 6-speed transmission lever.
Other Mahindra News Buzzing This Week
Other Mahindra news includes the company’s decision to skip the 2023 Auto Show while introducing the Thar RWD and its brand-new electric sub-compact hatchback, the XUV400 EV, this month. It is anticipated that the company will host its own launch events immediately following the Auto Expo, saving money on the expo.
The new EV will have an all-electric drivetrain but will be based on the ICE XUV300. When it debuts, this EV will face off against Tata’s wildly successful Nexon EV. The Mahindra XUV400 Electric will be propelled by an electric motor with a maximum torque of 310 Nm and a maximum power of 147 Bhp when idling. The electric SUV’s 39.4 kWh battery pack is said to give it a 456-kilometer range. The maximum speed will be electronically capped at 150 km/h, and the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h will take just 8.3 seconds.
