The Tata Altroz will receive a sportier incarnation, the Tata Altroz Racer, in early June. However, unlike the previous time Tata introduced sporty variations with the JTP logo, the focus would be on the appearance and features. The Altroz Racer debuted at the 2023 Auto Expo and made its most recent appearance at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024 earlier this year. The Altroz Racer, with its sportier design and more powerful turbo-petrol engine, will directly compete with the Hyundai i20 N Line. Here’s what you can anticipate from the Altroz Racer when it launches.
Tata Altroz Racer Design
The Altroz Racer will not have any design alterations to the bodywork, but it will have stylistic features that improve its athletic appeal when compared to the ordinary version. Based on the concept version shown at the 2024 Bharat Mobility Expo, it will include a reworked grille with a mesh-like pattern and a new set of 16-inch blacked-out alloy wheels.
The Altroz Racer idea was shown in a vibrant orange color with two white stripes extending from the hood to the end of the roof. We should anticipate similar body graphics to appear on the commercial version as well.
Tata Altroz Racer Interior
Inside, the Altroz Racer will have an all-black dashboard and black leatherette seat upholstery. It will also include themed ambient lighting surrounding the dashboard, wireless charging port, and footwell. For a more sporty look, the seats and steering wheel will be stitched in contrast.
Altroz Racer Features
The Altroz Racer will also provide additional amenities above the basic hatchback. The features include a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, a heads-up display, an upgraded 7-inch digital driver’s display, and ventilated front seats. The Altroz Racer’s safety equipment will also be improved, with six airbags and a 360-degree camera.
2024 Tata Altroz Racer Transmission
The Altroz Racer will use the more powerful turbo-petrol engine borrowed from the Nexon. Its specifications have been detailed below:
Engine | 1.2-litre turbo-petrol |
Power | 120 PS |
Torque | 170 Nm |
Transmission | 6-speed MT / 7-speed DCT (expected) |
Tata already offers the hatchback in a turbo-petrol version named Altroz i-Turbo. It also has a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine (110 PS / 140 Nm) paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Altroz i-Turbo is intended to be available alongside the Racer model as a more inexpensive option.
Compared to the ordinary Altroz, the Racer variant will include a 6-speed manual transmission rather than the conventional 5-speed manual. Tata might possibly sell the Altroz Racer with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox (DCT), as opposed to the 6-speed DCT found on the normal Altroz.
Tata Altroz Racer Price & Launch
The Tata Altroz Racer is projected to be priced at about Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be a direct competitor for the Hyundai i20 N Line. We can expect the car to be launched in next month to the Indian market.
