Mahindra XUV e8 Spied Testing

The Mahindra XUV e8 is the XUV700’s electric counterpart and would be the company’s first offering in the EV market. Although the EV is scheduled to go on sale in December 2024, it has already been seen road testing. Mahindra has gone all-in by showcasing up to 5 all-electric SUVs with the launch schedule set for 2026. Mahindra has realised that the future of transportation is unavoidably electric. These will have strong powertrains and range and be built on a specific electric platform.

A fully camouflaged electric SUV was spotted, but it was determined that this was the bronze-colored EV. The SUV’s tail end, which remarkably resembles the rear end of the XUV700, is clearly visible. This is expected given that the e8 will have an electric powertrain underneath but that the exterior design and interior layout may be identical to the ICE model. However, that is not at all a bad thing since the XUV700 has a luxurious-looking feature-packed cabin with all the newest technology and comfort amenities.

All five of these SUVs will be supported by a specialised INGLO platform, which can support both 2WD and AWD drivetrains as well as seating configurations of 5 and 7. Two LFP battery packs, 60 kWh and 80 kWh, will also be available. On the WLTP cycle, the larger battery pack will have a range of 450 km. The Mahindra SUVs will support 175 kW DC fast charging, enabling a 5-80% charging time of under 30 minutes. Fast charging is a significant component of the EV industry. There would be a 285 PS (RWD) to 394 PS power output range (AWD). They will become extremely quick and capable as a result of these.

We are eagerly anticipating Mahindra’s entry into the EV market, which is currently dominated in our market by Tata Motors. The XUV400, an electric variant of the XUV300, is anticipated to go on sale in the upcoming weeks. That would compete with models like the MG ZS EV, Hyundai Kona Electric, and Tata Nexon EV. So, Mahindra’s first step into the mass EV market is just around the corner.
