It’s no secret that Tata Motors has been giving players like Hyundai, Mahindra, and Kia a run for their money month after month. March 2022 was no exception, with the automaker selling 42,293 units compared to 29,654 units in the same month last year. This represents a fantastic 42.62 percent year-on-year increase and a 5.78 percent month-on-month increase. Tata Nexon, Punch, and Altroz contributed the most to overall growth, with 14,315, 10,526, and 4,727 units, respectively.
Though the Altroz was not among the top ten at one point, it is still an important product for the brand. With the introduction of the Altroz DCA automatic variant, the company expects to attract more customers in the coming months.
Nexon, on the other hand, remains the brand’s largest contributor month after month. And its crash test rating, cabin space, and overall packaging appear to be working in its favour. It’s worth noting that it outsold the Maruti Suzuki Vitata Brezza, which sold 12,439 units in the same month. With the launch of the new-generation Brezza just around the corner, it’ll be interesting to see if the Nexon maintains its leadership position in the compact SUV segment.
To be clear, Tata Nexon electric has also done exceptionally well for the company, as it remains the preferred choice for electric car buyers in India. Tata Motors is the only brand in the Indian four-wheeler EV space to have sold 3000 units. It sold 3,357 units in the previous month, representing a 377 percent increase year on year. Tata Motors also had its most successful fiscal year since its inception, selling 3,70,372 units, a 67 percent increase over the previous fiscal year.
