The All New Smart #1 Electric Crossover All Set For 2022
The Smart #1 is the name of the reformed brand’s first product. Mercedes-Benz and Geely have formed a 50-50 joint venture, and they’re kicking off the cooperation with this electric crossover. The vehicle is expected to be available later this year. In these teaser photographs, Smart #1 wears a body wrap to hide his looks. There are a lot of similarities between this and the previous #1 Concept. Instead of the concave sculpture shown at the IAA show in Munich, the grille is now flush with the body. Small inlets are added to the snout front of the wheels. The lip of the rear hatch is softer than in previous iterations.
The drag coefficient of the #1 is 0.29. The body incorporates aspects such as dynamic grille shutters to attain this low number. The door handles are also flush with the body, and an ice-breaking feature prevents them from being trapped in cold weather. The Smart #1 Concept (seen below) is 168.9 inches (4.29 metres) long, which is about the same as a Mini Countryman, which is 169.7 inches long (4.31 meters). The production version appears to have pretty comparable proportions based on these photographs, so it should be about the same size.
The new teaser photographs from Smart don’t show us what’s inside the #1. The prototype has a basic interior design with a steering wheel and a rectangular 12.8-inch screen in the middle stack. Because of its gaudy appearance, the metallic-gold finish throughout the show car’s cabin does not appear likely to make it to the production version. There are no specifics about the Smart #1’s powertrain. The Geely Sustainable Experience Architecture underpins it. The foundations are powered by an 800-volt architecture and can accommodate up to three electric motors.
Smart’s new name structure for future models is also introduced in the #1. “Now often used to indicate the hottest topics in social media, the “#” symbol, according to the company’s press release, explains the reasoning for this moniker: “Now often used to indicate the hottest topics in social media, the “#” symbol, according to the company’s press release, explains the reasoning for this moniker.”
