Maruti Suzuki Brezza continues to dominate the compact SUV sales charts in August 2023, with 14,572 units sold versus 15,193 units sold during the same period the previous year, representing a 4% YoY decline in sales. Tata Motors’ Punch was the second most popular small SUV in India, selling 14,523 units.
In compared to the same period a year before, with 12,006 units, there was a YoY sales gain of 21%. With a domestic tally of 12,164 vehicles, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx finished third. The Hyundai Venue came in fourth place with a domestic total of 10,948 units, compared to 11,240 units in August 2022.

As a result, revenues fell 3% year on year. Tata recently presented the redesigned Nexon, and official pricing will be announced on September 14. Thus, the outgoing model sold 8,049 units last month, compared to 15,085 units during the same period in 2022, representing a YoY reduction of 47% in India.
Hyundai’s new SUV Making to the competition
Hyundai’s Exter ended sixth in the second half of the ranking with a total of 7,430 units, while the Mahindra XUV300, Kia Sonet, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger filled the remaining slots. The Mahindra XUV300 sold 4,992 units in August 2023, up from 4,322 units in August 2022, representing a 16% rise in sales year on year.
The domestic SUV manufacturer is now working on a revised version of the XUV300 with significant inside and exterior changes, which will most likely be released in early 2024. The Kia Sonet sold 4,120 units compared to 7,838 units last year, representing a 47% decrease year on year.
Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger finished ninth and tenth, respectively. The Magnite sold 2,258 units compared to 3,194 units, representing a 29% decrease. The Renault Kiger sold only 929 units.
