It’s the last Heritage Edition for 2022, and as such, the last for the current-generation Ford GT.
Since the legendary Blue Oval supercar debuted in 2005, there have been eight Ford GT Heritage Edition vehicles. The first was released in 2006, and it gave the first-generation automobile the famed blue and orange Gulf livery. The rest have been featured on the second-generation GT, and now we’ve arrived at number nine, the final model in the series. The 2022 Ford GT Holman Moody Heritage Edition is here.
This one, like other heritage versions, pays homage to the GT40’s racing background. Every car fan knows about Ford’s victory over Ferrari at Le Mans in 1966, when they swept the podium in a 1-2-3 formation. Bruce McLaren and Ken Miles, who memorably finished side-by-side as members of the Shelby-American racing team, have received a lot of attention. Ronnie Bucknum of the Holman Moody team drove the Mk II GT40 in third place, which had a gold exterior with red flashes at the front. This 2022 Ford GT is dressed in the racing livery, right down to the no. 5 roundel on the hood and doors.

“Of all the Ford GT Heritage Edition liveries we’ve done, the Holman Moody Heritage Edition’s can’t-miss signature gold and red theme is an epic tribute to our 1966 Le Mans finish,” said Ford GT Program Manager Mike Severson. “Inspired by one of the most well-known Ford GT40 race cars, this latest Ford GT honors the Holman Moody race team’s knowhow and ability to out-innovate global competitors.”
The Holman Moody Heritage Edition incorporates exposed carbon fibre in several spots, in addition to eye-catching hues. Although the 20-inch wheels are the most visible, carbon fibre can also be found on the front splitter, engine louvres, rear diffuser, side sills, and side mirrors. The door sills, console, and registers all have extra carbon fibre on the inside. The rest of the cabin is regular Ford GT fare, with plenty of leather and Alcantara, albeit there is some gold decoration to remind you of the car’s Holman Moody ties.

At the 2022 New York Auto Show, Ford will unveil the 2022 GT Holman Moody Heritage Edition alongside the original 1966 Ford GT40 Mk II on which it is based. The run is reported to be ultra-limited — a figure hasn’t been announced, but every second-gen Ford GT heritage run has been 50 or less in the past. Ford GT production is anticipated to cease in December, with a total of 1,350 units completed.
