2022 Mahindra Thar Facelift Could Be Inspired By This Render?

Currently, second-gen Mahindra Thar is offered in two trims- AX(O) and LX which are priced between Rs 12.78 lakh and Rs 15.08 lakh (ex-showroom)

Christmas is generally the holiday of choice for most people throughout the world at this time of year. So, in keeping with the festivities, Mahindra’s Chief Design Officer, Pratap Bose, sent out a special message to his followers and Mahindra clients via his social media account.

It’s not unexpected that the photo shows Santa Claus on a Thar instead of his trusty sleigh, accompanied by his reindeer. On closer study, however, it becomes clear that the Thar depicted in this image is a modified rendering of the tiny off-roader with minor aesthetic changes. Is this the Mahindra Thar Facelift 2022? Only time will tell if this is true.

Is this 2022 Mahindra Thar Facelift render?

No, it is not a rendering of the Mahindra Thar Facelift for 2022. For the time being, Mahindra Design is only sending seasonal greetings. Yes, it differs from the Thar available for purchase in the market.

Instead of the boxy unit featured on the production-spec vehicle, the digital picture portrays Thar with a sleek curving bumper. The unit depicted in this generated picture may also result in a better approach angle. An air scoop is also included on the front fender, giving the SUV a dynamic look.

A Mahindra Thar with a totally open rooftop is seen in the digital illustration. A triangular roll cage-like structure installed on top of the cabin and extending to the back is an unusual feature.

In fact, this design drawing seems suspiciously similar to an earlier Thar idea shown during the off-launch roader’s in August 2020. Only Mahindra can confirm whether or not this vehicle will be included to the Thar roster as a new version.

The interior of Thar’s cabin was not included in the image, but we anticipate it to have the similar layout and gizmos. A 7-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a multi-function steering wheel, manual air conditioning, power steering, cruise control, and a multi-information driver’s display should all be included.

Features & Engine Specs on offer

Thar is powered by two engines: a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel and a 2.0-litre stallion turbo petrol mill. The former produces 130 horsepower and 300 Nm of peak torque, while the later produces 150 bhp and 300 Nm of peak torque (320 Nm in AT). Both motors are available with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

Power is sent to all four wheels via a 4×4 drivetrain with a low-range transfer case. As of now, Thar only has one direct rival in the form of Force Gurkha. Mahindra is also reportedly developing a 5-door version of Thar which would lock horns with the upcoming 5-door iterations of Gurkha and Maruti Jimny.
