The Best Hatchbacks That Left India

Indian car manufacturers are these days focusing on SUVs and MUVs. There is no focus on hatchbacks and sedans. Here are the best hatchbacks that left India but still they are not forgotten. These include Volkswagen Polo TSI and Ford Figo TDCI.

Ford Figo TDCI99 BHP215 NM

1.Tata Tiago JTP

Tata Tiago JTP

The Tata Tiago scored a 4-star safety rating in the Global NCAP crash test which sounds the safest in its segment. Tata launched a JTP version of the car called Tata Tiago JTP with a powerful engine. The Powerful petrol engine was being borrowed from the Tata Nexon. It unfortunately got discontinued due low sales and Tata’s end of Joint venture with Jayem Automobiles. The Tata Tiago JTP had very great performance but no one cares about it in India.

2.Fiat Punto Abarth

The cars that Fiat launched in India were build like a tank. Their lineup also had the Fiat Punto Abarth which replaced the Fiat Palio. Fiat cars had great performance and build quality. They just failed due to poor marketing and reliability. This led to the brand leave car manufacturing and focus only on engines. The Fiat Punto Abarth came with a very powerful 1.4-liter petrol engine which had insane performance.

3.Ford Figo TDCI

Ford Figo TDCi

The Ford Figo was a diesel rocket in it’s segment. Ford had offered a 1.5-liter diesel engine with 100 PS of power. An enthusiast who bought a diesel Figo used to enjoy it a lot. Great build quality was offered on the car. A lot of safety tech like 6 airbags, TCS, HLA, etc has made its presence in the car. An enthusiast who miss this car surely has more choices but not a hatch built like Figo. Ford should have worked on a better business strategy. This could have saved them from losses and exit from market.

4.Volkswagen Polo TSI

The Volkswagen Polo had offered best in class performance. Their 1-liter TSI was made for enthusiasts who wanted a fun to drive car. Volkswagen even offered the better build quality that made it score 4-stars in Global NCAP. No other hatchback offers build quality and performance at same time in its segment. It would be great if the brand develops a replacement model for the Polo with same German engineering.

There are no hatchbacks that come in a budget and offer both performance and safety. A hatchback that offers performance is unsafe in India. Safety is there in some hatchbacks but they don’t have better performance. These hatchbacks were one of the best hatchbacks that left India leaving market incomplete.
