Tata Motors Trademarks Multiple New Names

Tata Motors intends to aggressively expand its passenger car lineup in India, with many of its new models becoming electric vehicles. Curvv and Avinya are two concept electric vehicles that are based on the company’s innovative Generation 2 and Generation 3 architectures, respectively.

While the Gen 2 architecture supports both electric and conventional powertrains, the Gen 3 architecture is only for electric vehicles. The domestic automaker will use both of these platforms for its forthcoming cars, and it appears that development has already begun! Tata Motors has trademarked a number of new names in India, the most recent of which are Bovita, Styzor, Auroar, and Xiomara.

While we can’t say for sure what these names will be used for, we suspect they were registered for future Tata electric vehicles. All of these words, especially Auroar (a spin on Aurora) and Xiomara (a Spanish-origin name), have an international feel to them, leading us to conclude that the company is targeting foreign markets with these next automobiles. The name ‘Sliq’ had also been trademarked by the company.

The production version of the Tata Curvv is projected to arrive in India by 2024, with the all-electric (EV) variant being the first. Its internal combustion engine (ICE) variant (with both petrol and diesel engine options) is planned to arrive later. The production-spec Tata Avinya will be available only as an electric vehicle by 2025.

Tata Motors is working on a couple more electric vehicles. Within the following few days, the company will debut the long-range Nexon EV (Nexon EV Max) in India, and Altroz EV is likely to join the market soon. Sierra EV is now in development, with a 2025 release date set, while an electric version of Punch is also being considered.

A few ICE vehicles are currently in development. Both the Tata Harrier and the Safari are slated to get new turbocharged petrol engine options, as well as cosmetic upgrades. Punch is also likely to have a turbo-petrol engine option soon.
