Porsche 911 Roof Tent Turns Sports Cars Into Campers

Some things in life, like vans and camping in the wilderness, go hand in hand. Sports cars, on the other hand, are primarily used on tracks, at supercar meets, and at enthusiast gatherings. However, with Porsche’s new roof tent, performance vehicles such as the 911 can be transported to campsites and used as campers.

The roof tent was designed, developed, and manufactured by Porsche Tequipment, the German company’s division for original accessories and upgrades. When not in use, it resembles a large hardcase. It can be installed on the roof transport systems of models such as the 911, Macan, Cayenne, Panamera, and Taycan, whether or not they have roof rails.

The roof tent provides a great view of the outside when fully deployed, thanks to two side windows and a roof window. According to Porsche, the tent can accommodate two adults and can be used in all seasons. The tent includes a built-in polyfoam mattress. The side walls are visually similar to the 911’s styling, and there are Porsche logos in several places.

The automaker claims that putting up the roof tent is simple. Simply open the box’s lockable safety latches, lift the hardcase slightly, and open it with the help of two gas pressure shock absorbers. The tent must be erected and secured with the four integrated poles in the final step.

Porsche will begin selling the roof tent in two colour options: black-light grey and black-dark grey. More original Porsche camping accessories, such as an inner tent, a heated blanket, and a shoe bag organiser, will be added to the catalogue soon.

Roof tent deliveries are expected to begin in November of this year. It costs €4,980 (approximately $5,000) at current exchange rates. According to the manufacturer, the tent cannot be installed on GT, Cabriolet, or Targa models.
