5. Maruti Alto 800
Alto 800 is a successor of Maruti 800 and is one of the most identifiable car from Maruti due to its simple and sober design. In 2019, the company gave this car a facelift with new bumpers, headlights, design elements. Talking about its interiors, there’s a dual-tone finish on the seats, dashboard as well as on door panels. It has features like reverse parking sensor, seatbelt reminder, dual air-bag. The petrol engine of Alto is a BS6 1796 cc engine generating 48 bhp of horsepower and 69 Nm of torque, further paired with a 5 speed manual transmission. This engine offers 22 kmpl of company claimed mileage. Talking about the CNG variant, it runs on SCNG engine generating 40 bhp horses and 60 Nm of torque with a mileage of 31 kg/km. Alto 800 is sold at a starting price of 3.15 lakh INR to 4.86 lakh INR.
4. Renault Kwid
The Renault Kwid is considered as a direct competitor for Maruti Alto 800. The exteriors gains a muscular bumper, split headlamp setup, led DRLs, and a sea shaped wave guideline in the rear. The interior has a piano black centered console with a dual tone highlight. It has a 8 screen touch screen unit and has Android Auto, Apple Car-play within it. Further, it has features like a reverse parking camera, Reverse Parking Sensor, ABS with EBD, Dual airbags, seatbelt reminder. It has a 279litres boot-space which is comparatively more than Alto 800. The Kwid is available with 2 engine options namely 0.8L with 3 Cylinder generating 58 bhp horses and a 1 litre engine generating 67 bhp horses repectively. Further, it is paired with a manual transmission, however, AMT transmission is also available with the 1 litre option.
3. Hyundai Santro
The Japanese automaker and manufaturer has improved very much in terms of designing the Santro. The company claims that the new Santro is bigger and better than its older version. The dashboard has a 7 inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Car play within it. The car provides premium features such as rear defoggers, rear wiper washers, steering wheel mounted audio and bluetooth controls, rear AC vents. The Santro runs on a BS6 compllined 1.1 litre engine generating 69 PS of horsepower and 101 Nm of torque. It is also available in a bi fuel variant which has a company fitted CNG kit offering 30 km/kg of mileage. The petrol variant is sold within a price range of 4.75 lakh to 6.45 lakh INR. The CNG variant is sold within a price range of 5.99 lakh to 6.21 lakh INR.
2. Maruti Suzuki S-Presso
The Indian carmaker has launched the S-Presso in its mini SUV segment with a pricing of 3.78 lakh INR(petrol variant). The exteriors have a square shape used in its every element which makes it look very tough and rigid. The interior consists of a dashboard with a dynamic center console with a touch screen infotainment system and a uniquely positioned digital instrument cluster. The steering wheels have audio control buttons which makes it more premium. Further, the S-Presso runs on a familiar 1 litre 43 cylinder generating 67 bhp of power and 90 Nm of torque. The vehicle gives a company claimed mileage of 21 kmpl. Talking about the safety features, the car is made in Maruti’s high tech platform making it future ready due to its high torsional strength and high strengthile steel. It also has a ABS with EBD, dual airbag, reverse parking sensors.
1. Tata Tiago XE
The Tata Tiago was India’s safest car with it’s 4 star rating. It has gained maximum points in child safety and adult occupancy. The engine of Tiago is a 1.2 litre 3 cylinder revotron engine which can generate 85 bhp of power and 113 Nm of torque respectively. Tiago gives 19.8 kmpl of company claimed mileage with balanced performance and efficiency. The interiors consist of Full fabric seats, dual toned finish in dashboard, seats and has a lot of space. It has features like electric steering wheel, drivers footrest, tilt adjustability in steering wheel. However, the Tata Tiago XE comes at a ex-showroom price of 5 lakh INR.
