The Best-Selling cars in Europe include popular cars like Volkswagen Golf, Peugeot 208 and Toyota Yaris.

The Global Car Market is struggling due to the Covid-19 pandemic and semiconductor shortage. This condition is especially evident in the European Automotive industry. Regardless of the situation, there has been an increase in the sales of Electric & plug-in Hybrid vehicles.

1. Volkswagen Golf – £20,280

The all-time popular car from Volkswagen, the Golf; grabs the top spot in the list of best-selling cars in Europe. VW has sold more than 98,000 models of Golf in the market from January 2021 to May 2021. It is one of the best-sellers in the European Region. Its new variants i.e. Golf GTE, GTD and R-Line should help the model to increase the sales in future.

2. Peugeot 208 – £17,860

2nd Best-Selling Peugeot 208

Even though it has been dethroned, the Peugeot 208 is still a strong European market performer. With more than 95,000 models sold in the first five months of 2021, it is holding its position strongly. With diesel and petrol powertrains, there is also an option of electric drive. It was also voted as “Most Desired Electric Car” in the 2021 Golden Steering Wheel Awards.

3. Toyota Yaris – £19,910

With the increasing demand for the new and attractive fourth-gen model, Toyota Yaris has been consistently delivering a strong performance. It has also won the European Car of The Year Award 2021. Currently, more than 90,000 models have been sold in European Market.

4. Peugeot 2008 – £20,150

Comparing with May 2020, registrations for the Peugeot 2008 have been increased by 94%. For a long while, it’s been in the top 10 list. It features an electric drivetrain option along with its standard Petrol and diesel variants. This Electric model can reach up to 310 km. Nearly 88,000 models have been sold in the first 5 months of 2020. This makes it the second best-selling Peugeot in Europe.

5. Renault Clio – £16,200

This French Supermini car has been very popular in the European region. The Current Generation Clio has sold more than 86,000 models. It is a hybrid model which combines a 1.6-litre petrol engine with two electric motors. Conventional petrol and diesel engines are also available. The turbo-petrol engine generates 129 HP whereas the turbo-diesel engine generates 114 HP.
