At the most recent edition of the India Art Fair in New Delhi, BMW India showcased its newest electric product, the i4. After launching its first electric SUV, the iX, in India, the i4 demonstrates BMW’s commitment to a greener and cleaner future in the country. During the announcement of the i4, BMW stated that the car would be available on May 26, 2022. The i4 will be the BMW Group’s third all-electric car in India, following the launch of the flagship iX SUV and the Mini Cooper SE hatchback.
The BMW i4 debuted internationally in November of last year and shares an exterior design with its internal combustion-engined sister 4 series, which the company sells all over the world but not in India. The i4 will be a five-door sedan, unlike the ICE 4 series, which is a two-door sports vehicle. The BMW i4 is built on a flexible vehicle architecture that was designed from the start to be entirely electric. The upcoming vehicle features a stretched coupé proportions, a flowing roofline, four doors with frameless windows, and a big tailgate in an exquisitely sporty style.

BMW Framework
The BMW i4 sports a newly developed chassis technology that is precisely matched to the vehicle. It has a five-link rear axle and a double-joint spring strut front axle. Lift-related dampers and rear-axle air suspension are standard on the new i4. A near-actuator wheel slip restriction is also included for demanding driving maneuvers (together with electric all-wheel drive for the first time). A model-specific adaptive M suspension, variable sport steering, an M Sport brake system, and optional 20-inch M light-alloy wheels are all available on the BMW i4.
BMW i4 Features
The i4’s cabin is wrapped in sustainable materials on the inside, and it has two screens enclosed in a single continuous panel for technology. The standard features include a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment screen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument console. BMW’s iDrive 8 technology is included, which allows for voice and gesture controls. Ambient lighting, three-zone climate control, and ventilated seats are all included in the car. Aside from that, the model will include all of the necessary gadgets, gizmos, and tech features that one would expect from a BMW vehicle.
BMW i4 Battery
Internationally, the BMW i4 is available in two versions: an eDrive 40 and an M50. Both variants contain an 80.7kWh lithium-ion battery installed on the floor and a motor that drives the back axle. The eDrive 40 produces 330.4bhp and 430Nm of peak torque, making it the gentler of the two. It takes less than 5.7 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour. The M50 variant produces 528.6bhp and 795Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds thanks to this.
In terms of range, BMW promises that the i4’s Drive 40 variation will have a range of 590 kilometres per charge, while the M50 variant will have a range of 510 kilometres per charge. In terms of charging, both i4 models can be fully charged in 8.25 hours using an 11kW home charger. The i4 also has a 200kW DC fast-charging system that can charge the car from 0 to 80 percent in 31 minutes. Aside from that, the eDrive 40 may be charged for ten minutes to get a range of 164 kilometres, and the M50 can be charged for ten minutes to get a range of 140 kilometres.
