Car Names & The Interesting Stories Behind It !!

This set of cars from all over the world has fascinating stories behind their names.

  • Toyota named its car after a Greek and German word.
  • The Ceed is Kias most European named car.
  • The Tata Sumo does not refer to a wrestler.

When vehicles were first introduced to the globe, naming them was not a difficult task. Ford pioneered the automobile industry with the Model A and B, as well as the iconic Model T. However, naming a new automobile before it is released is not as simple as it previously was. Today, we’ll look at some of the fascinating history behind the names of several well-known automobiles.

1. Aston Martin

The name of this brand comes from a simple derivation. The last name originates from the company’s founder, Mr. Lionel Martin, and the first name comes from the town where he resided, Aston Hill. Mr. Martin was recognised for his passion for luxury and performance in automobiles while keeping functionality, and the Aston Martin brand certainly lives up to his expectations.

2. Hyundai Ioniq

This is a clever play on words. Hyundai’s Ioniq is one of their most recent electric automobiles. The car’s name is derived from the word “ion” while merging with the word “unique,” since the EV is powered by a lithium-ion battery pack. Then there’s the Ioniq.

3. Nissan Juke

This is a clever play on words. Hyundai’s Ioniq is one of their most recent electric automobiles. The car’s name is derived from the word “ion” while merging with the word “unique,” since the EV is powered by a lithium-ion battery pack. Then there’s the Ioniq.

4. Toyota Yaris

The Toyota Yaris is named after a Greek mythological figure. “Charites” was one of the charities included in this mythology since it was thought to be the name of the goddess of beauty and elegance. This term, on the other hand, was mixed up with the German word “Ja,” which signifies yes and is pronounced “Ya.” The name “Yaris” was developed by combining these words.

5. Kia Ceed

Kia’s Ceed was the company’s first vehicle sold in Europe. Keeping this in mind, the Korean automaker desired a name for their vehicle that would appeal to the European people and be unique to that market. Kia used the initials of the European Economic Community (CEE), which is also known as European Design in other fields, to make this a definite thing (ED)

6. Tata Sumo

Tata wanted the initials “Indi” in all of its commuter cars when they initially entered the market, therefore the Indica and Indigo were named after them. However, while the term Sumo may have connoted the power of a sumo wrestler to the general public, it actually referred to something quite different. Mr. Sumant Moolgaokar, the previous MD of Tata at the time, was the inspiration for this MPV. Sumo was created by combining the first and final syllables of his first and last names, respectively.
