Chevy Muscle Cars: Worst Muscle Cars Ever Manufactured

Chevrolet has produced some very powerful cars since its inception. Although it came late in the Muscle car game, it revolutionized the segment after its entry. Chevy Muscle Cars only had one major competitor, which was Ford.

While giving tough competition, Chevy also took some wrong decisions that backfired and made the models a sales flop. While some models didn’t become one, they were still criticized. Long time fans hated them. Many models like Camaro, Nova, Impala have been big hits in the past. But some of their model generations faced hatred due to various reasons. Let’s take a look at some of the worst Chevy Muscle Cars ever made:-

5. 1980 Chevrolet Corvette California 305

Restricting emission standards is a good decision for saving the environment, but it can turn the fate of a car from a hit to the downright worst car in the series. In California, the corvette came fitted with a 5.0-litre V8 engine that generated only 190 HP which is a very low number comparing with older models. It is said that 1980 was the worst year for corvettes and we can see why. Its top speed was limited to 137 kmph. It was good that Chevrolet increased the horsepower in the next year.

Muscle cars in the 1990s were suffering a lot. This is proven by none other than Monte Carlo. Chevrolet returned the iconic muscle car marque in 1995, only to spoil its reputation. Neither it had the V8 nor the appeal. Fans hated it as the design looked bland. It was now a two-door coupe without a V8 engine. In the 2000s, the enthusiasts finally got the V8 engine with the added SS trim.

3. Chevy Monza

This one is one of the least popular Chevy Muscle Cars. The Monza was built on the Chevrolet Vega platform. We don’t know why Chevy thought that’s a good decision. It was the slowest car ever to be on a Chevy lineup. Just when the popularity started picking up, Chevy dropped the V8 and then it was game over for the Monza.

2. 2004-2005 Chevrolet Impala SS

Don’t blame us. Look at this !! Does this make you feel that its predecessor was a classic muscle car that is still popular as a lowrider even today? The Older generation, i.e. 1994 Impala SS looked (and performed) much better than this four-door sedan due to which the Impala marque had to suffer. It was in essence, a redesigned Chevy Lumina. That’s a shame.

1. 1982 Chevrolet Camaro Iron Duke

Fans say that this one actually belongs in a Junkyard. Why do you ask? Well, the speed of 0-100 kmph in 20 seconds is what you get if you buy the car for its looks. It sure looks good, but the performance is not justifying the classic looks. Its four-cylinder engine puts out a measly 90 HP which is why it is considered the Weakest Camaro ever. It was the first four-cylinder Camaro and that’s where its speciality ends. That’s why you would find this car on every list of worst cars ever made by Chevrolet.
