Fastag is a device or a tag that works on Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology for making toll payments directly from the prepaid account linked to it. In simple words, it is a prepaid and rechargeable tag fixed at the windscreen of your vehicle so that whenever you cross the toll. The toll tax gets directly deducted from the recharge you made to that account.

What is the validity of fastag?

The validity for fastag will be 5 years from the date of issue.

The recharge done on the card has no validity it can be used over the period of 5 years. You can check the validity by giving a missed call at +91-8884333331. Also, they can be used as long as they are readable at tolls and not tampered.

Is Fastag mandatory?

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has made a Fastag mandatory from 15th of February. with no further extension to dates. The vehicle without the tag to charged twice the original tax.

Which bank FASTag is best?

The NHAI (National Highways Authority of India) provided the fastag for free but no there are also some e-commerce sites and banking institutions where you can get the fastag. for now, SBI is offering the most generous deal which is Rs.400 for the new tag from which Rs.200 will be deposit 100 rupees as minimum balance and 100 rupees issuance.
