GMC Typhoon The Legendary Performance Machine | All About 1992 GMC Typhoon

The word Typhoon is derived from the Chinese word Tai(Strong) and Fung(Wind). And GMC considered using it for the massive SUV with a Strong Engine and rugged look and named it GMC Typhoon. GMC Typhoon Engine and Performance

Just like the bigger sibling GMC Syclone, the Typhoon was powered by a 4.3 L LB4 V6 engine with unique pistons, main caps, head gaskets, intake manifolds, fuel system, exhaust manifolds, and a 48mm twin-bore throttle body from the 5.7 L GM Small-Block engine. The engine on the high-performance SUV is able to generate 280 hp (209 kW) and 350 lb-ft (475 N⋅m) of torque.

Talking about the performance of this amazing SUV, it needs to be tested alongside the Cherokee which is an SUV with no down points but the Typhoon can easily beat Ferrari 348ts or the Ford Mustang V-8 at any instance. Yes, we are serious about the SUV when the test by the CarandDriver team was accelerated from 0-60Mph(97kmph) in lighting 5.3 sec. The quarter-mile comes up in just 14.1 seconds at 95 mph. Although the speed by the authorities is restricted to 124Mph the team could not get the top speed numbers. But who drove the SUV faster than that.

GMC Typhoon Design And Dimensions

The 2-door mid-size SUV is based on the self-leveling rear suspension which would inflate air bladders to offset rear-end sag when the SUV was loaded up with heavy cargo. The Typhoon was available in Forest Green Metallic, Radar Blue, Raspberry Metallic, Frost While, Royal Blue Metallic, Aspen Blue, Bright Teal, Apple Red, Garnet Red, and black. Tire duties are assigned to Firestone Firehawk SVX with 11.9-invented disc/11.2-in drum Brakes.

Talking about the dimensions of the High-performance SUV has a wheelbase of 2552.7mm with its 1524mm of height. The total weight of the powerful machine weighs 1733 kg and still, it was the fastest in its running years.
