Another mini-motocrosser option for young riders.

Although established motorcycle manufacturers do not now offer many full-size electric motorbike models, they are much more daring with kid-friendly electric off-roaders. The mini-motocrosser market is ready for the electric revolution, from KTM’s SX-E 5 to Indian Motorcycle’s eFTR Junior and Mini models. Honda has joined the e-dirt bike fray with the CRF-E2, a collaboration with California-based startup Greenger Powersports.

The small electric is a 50cc-equivalent that caters to young novices, similar to Greenger Motors’ G12R and G12S models announced in March 2020. The 48V brushless DC motor has a maximum power of 1.2 kW (1.6 horsepower) and 2.5 kW (3.4 horsepower). The mill additionally produces 4.1 lb-ft of rate torque and 18.4 lb-ft of maximum torque.

In optimum conditions, the 20 AH/960 Wh swappable battery can last up to two hours. The CRF-E2 can be fully recharged in 4 hours using the conventional charger, or in 2.5 hours using the optional rapid charger. Owners may quickly replace out the unit for a fully charged backup because the battery is under 13 pounds.

All of this technology is housed in an aluminium twin-spar frame with double-cradle, which also prioritises performance with a rebound and preload-adjustable rear shock. As a result, the CRF-E2 has a front travel of 3.9 inches and a rear travel of 8.3 inches. Hydraulic calipers mated to 190 mm petal-style discs bring the mini-crosser to a halt, with the front brake controlled by the right lever and the rear binder fed by the left lever.

Two 12-inch wire-spoke wheels with Kenda® Millville K771 knobby tyres will assist tiny tots in navigating most minor difficulties. Parents can adjust the seat height to 24.8 inches or 25.5 inches as their children grow. The e-dirt bike is light, weighing only 108 pounds and carrying a maximum load of 99 pounds.

Greenger Electronic Technology designs, manufactures, and distributes the CRF-E2, which is an officially licenced Honda product. With a price tag of $2,950, it’s the ideal compromise between the KTM SX-E 5 and the Indian eFTR Junior. The CRF-E2 will also come with a $200 destination fee and a $100 freight cost, but given the minibike’s componentry and performance, these fees are still reasonable.
