Kawasaki W175 Launch On 25th Sept: Here’s All you need to know

On September 25, Kawasaki’s most affordable motorcycle in India will be launched in the country. For as long as we can remember, the Ninja 300 has held the title of the most affordable Kawasaki available in India, but the W175 will soon take over. Before we tell you how much we expect it to cost and where it will fit in the market, let us tell you everything you need to know about the upcoming Kawasaki W175.

Kawasaki W175 Design

The W175 now has a design that is as retro and traditional as it gets. The W175 takes styling cues from the 1966 W1, which was the largest displacement Japanese motorcycle at the time, as do the rest of Kawasaki’s W series, including the W800 and W800 Café.

While the W1 was dripping in chrome, the W175 takes a more modern approach with its blacked-out components. The bodywork, on the other hand, tells a different story. The simple-looking fuel tank, side panel, and rear section, as well as the pea-shooter-shaped exhaust, are reminiscent of the 1960s. The fork gaiters, single-piece seat with rolled pattern, and spoke wheels round out the retro look. However, according to a recently leaked document, the W175 will be available in two colour options: Ebony and a dual-tone Special Edition Red.

2022 Kawasaki W175 Engine Performance

Underneath the retro styling is a 177cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that will be equipped with a fuel-injection system in India. The Indonesian-spec model, on the other hand, has a carbureted engine. (zorafestival.org) However, the specifications of both models are identical.

The W175 produces 12.8bhp at 7500rpm and 13.2Nm at 6,000rpm while being mated to a five-speed transmission. Despite this, the motorcycle weighs only 135kg. While we have yet to ride and test the motorcycle, these output figures are not significant but are comparable to motorcycles such as the Yamaha FZ-X; however, when compared to the Royal Enfield Hunter, which offers 20bhp, the W175 falls short.

Kawasaki W175 Features

The W175’s feature set is similarly straightforward. It is likely to forego LED lighting in favour of standard units all around. Even the circular, retro-style instrument cluster has limited information to offer: a speedometer, an odometer, and three tell-tale indicators (high beam, neutral). Finally, single-channel ABS is included as standard equipment.

Kawasaki W175 Price In India

The most important question is, how much will the W175 cost? Kawasaki is said to have heavily localised the motorcycle in order to reduce costs. As a result, we anticipate it to be priced between Rs 1.5-1.7 lakh ex-showroom.

Kawasaki W175 Rivals

While this price makes it Kawasaki’s most affordable motorcycle in India, when compared to its competition and what it offers, the W175 appears to be an expensive proposition. If displacement is taken into account, the Kawasaki W175 would compete with the Yamaha FZ-X. However, in terms of expected pricing, it will compete with the comparatively less expensive TVS Ronin priced at Rs 1.49 lakh and the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 in its Retro avatar priced at Rs 1.41 lakh.

Now, both the Ronin and the Hunter have distinct personalities, and we recently pitted them against each other. I’ll include a link to that video in the description. When compared to the Kawasaki W175, both the Ronin and the Hunter appear to offer significantly more features, displacement, and performance, as well as better value for money.
